Christmas dinner a success

To the Editor:

On Christmas night, another highly successful Community Christmas Dinner was held at Asbury United Methodist Church. More than 100 guests and volunteers enjoyed a feast of turkey and dressing as prepared this year by Todd Hartnett. There was entertainment by Melissa Borer and her daughters, plus Von Ketelsen. The guests enjoyed the fun of Bingo to wrap up this special evening.

We would like to thank each of the volunteers who spend Christmas night in the kitchen, in the dining area, coat check, transportation, serving the guests during the social hour and all the other activities during this annual event. A special thanks goes to the guests who attended this year’s dinner. We would also like to thank the staff at Asbury for allowing us to host the dinner again this year.

Plans are in the works for another Christmas dinner next year. It’s a lot of fun and lot of work but everyone looks forward to this special event. Thanks to the Daily Freeman-Journal for promoting the dinner. My best wishes to each of you for a happy 2013. God bless.
