Six injured in bus crash
The driver of a Midas bus and six young passengers were transported to Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City Tuesday morning following an accident involving the vehicle.
Hospital officials confirmed that five of those transported were treated and released. Two victims were transferred to other facilities for further treatment.
Accident reports state that the bus, driven by Terry L. Worthen, 61, Webster City, was traveling south on Second Street when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck an auto driven by Jose Torres, Webster City. Torres was not injured, according to the report. The bus continued across the lane and struck a utility pole in the parking. The bus traveled southwest onto the property at 822 Second St., striking a parked vehicle, and coming to rest.
Observations from officers and witnesses at the scene indicated that Worthen experienced medical symptoms just prior to the accident, according to the accident report.
The six children aboard the bus, all from Webster City, were Pedro Ramon Sosa, 9; Alexis . Villalobos, 9, Ana Villalobos, 7; Orlando Celis, 6; Carol Merida, 5 and Raily Merida, 7.
