Pinewood Derby a success

To the Editor:

Saturday, March 16 was the Webster City Cub Scout Pinewood Derby race. It was a huge success much in part to all of the volunteers who helped make it run smoothly.

I would love to pass on our thanks to these businesses and individuals… because the boys are the recipients of their generosity.

Thank you to the following businesses and individuals:

Hy-Vee: for their donations of donuts

Fareway: for their donations of meat, hot dogs, and buns for our food stand

Dollar General: for their donation of plates and napkins

Motor Inn: for their donation of money towards our food stand costs

Doc Stop: for their donation of Ice to keep our beverages cold and refreshing

DJ Trophies: for their wonderful trophies and keepsakes

Webster City Schools for the use of their gymnasium and staff (Keith Tomason), the location and setup if perfect for this event

Scout leaders and volunteers who donate their time and skills helping to make scouting fun and keep children’s interest.

Thanks to all of the parents who helped clean and help fix the track without being asked.

All of the scouts for their hard work and dedication to the Cub Scout Motto “Do your best”… it was a fun day and I loved seeing the positive behaviors and how each scout was rooting each other on and telling them “good job” or “nice racing”. It’s not about the place your car ended up… but it is about the journey it took making it with your special family member

And a special thanks to all of the parents, grandparents, neighbors, aunts/uncles, brothers and sisters… if it weren’t for you, our scouts wouldn’t be able to participate in the scouting program.

Our children are the future and your generosity and encouragement helps them thrive to be the young gentlemen they are supposed to be.

Thanks again for your support, donations, and for just believing in scouting and our children.

Thanks to everyone who believe that scouting is beneficial and encourages youth to continue on. It is very rewarding
