Robert Moore, 84, Mansfield, Ohio
Robert L. Moore , 84, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born March 28, 1928 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late Wilbur and Iva (Bryant) Moore. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1946 to 1950 in Yorktown, Virginia. In 1953, he moved to Mansfield and began his career with Westinghouse Corp as an engineer. In 1979, Robert was transferred to Webster City, Iowa and retired in 1991. He moved back to Mansfield in 1993.
Robert was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and held several offices. He was also a member of Baku Grotto, Kentucky Colonels, Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, F. & A.M., American Legion, and Pandora Dance Club. He enjoyed golfing and watching sports of all kinds.
His family was his greatest joy and he loved being with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Betty J. Moore, whom he wed on April 25, 1948; four children, Linda (Don) Applegate of Mansfield, Roger (Joanne) Moore of San Antonio, TX, David (Janet) Moore of Port Clinton, OH and Steven (Beth) Moore of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren, Timothy (Michelle) Applegate of Mansfield, Daniel (Leslie) Applegate of Shiloh, Christi (Stephan) Rock of Mansfield, Brad (Veronica) Moore and Jamie (Tomas) Hernandez, both of San Antonio, TX, Elliott, Alex Ann and Jordan Moore, all of Port Clinton, Haylee Moore of Charlotte, NC and Garrett Moore of Atlanta, GA; eighteen great-grandchildren, Denise, Gabrielle, Willow, Bailee and Cole Applegate, Kaitlyn and Ryan Rock; Raquel and Miranda Moore, Kaiden, Talon, Alysia, Triston and Ashton Hernandez; four step great-grandchildren, Morgan, Lacey, Levi and Dominik; one brother, Kenneth (Norma) Moore of Madison Heights, MI; two sisters, Nancy (Bob) Heldreth of Mansfield and Edna Mae Lake of Newark, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Ed Royal; granddaughter, Theresa Moore; and brother-in-law, Eddie Lake.
Friends and family may visit from 2-4 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. A service conducted by Rev. Kent W. Joy will be held at 7:30 p.m. Contributions may be made in memory of Theresa Moore to the American Lung Association.
