Two charged in alleged Electrolux theft

Two Webster City residents were arrested Saturday following an incident at the Electrolux building, 400 Des Moines St.

Misty D. Pickens, 35, and Aylyn J. Davis, 26, both from Webster City, were arrested and charged with Burglary (D Felony) and Interference with Official Acts (Simple Misdemeanor).

According to Police Chief Brian Hughes, at or about 1:30 p.m., city police officers observed an unattended parked vehicle registered to Pickens in the area. Hughes said previously, officers remembered a tipster had given information alleging Pickens was stealing materials from inside the Electrolux building. Officers discovered evidence that indicated the building had been recently entered and eventually located and pursued two individuals inside the building.

During the next several hours, Hughes said a cat and mouse game ensued throughout the facility until Pickens and Davis were located near their vehicle. Both individuals were interviewed and confronted with other physical evidence obtained from the crime scene. As a result of those interviews, both were arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. A short time later, officers located more materials at Pickens’ house on Walnut Street that were alleged to have come from the Electrolux building.

Pickens was charged with an additional count of Burglary 3rd Degree for those items.
