HAMPTON – Webster City sophomore Logan Yates claimed a second straight medalist honor, but Hampton-Dumont had better balance in a 175-177 North Central Conference dual-meet victory on Friday at the par-37 Hampton County Club.
“The weather was not ideal, wind chills in the low 20s with snow flurries … the players struggled with the conditions, but we still got to compete with a conference school,” WCHS coach Dave Brighton said.
The Bulldogs’ four scoring players were separated by just five shots; the Lynx had 10 strokes separating its counters.
Yates posted a 3-over par 40 to sneak by Hampton-Dumont’s Mitch Vetter (42) by two strokes for the top spot.
Twin brothers Avery and Alec Fuhs carded rounds of 43 and 44 for the Lynx. John Ferrell and Sean Vogelbacher both shot 50.
