Wilson Brewer Park to host train day event
Webster City is celebrating National Train Day on Saturday at Wilson Brewer Park with an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Glen Cue, who was the last Illinois Central agent to work at the local telegraph office, will be at the Wilson Brewer Park Museum and Visitor Center to demonstrate how telegraphs were sent and received. The Museum will also have original train schedules, lanterns and other historic items on display. Refreshments will be served. A new art and camera exhibit in the Museum’s basement will also be open.
The National Train Day celebration commemorates the anniversary of the transcontinental railroad’s inception by bringing the history of how trains have transformed America to life. For more information on the national celebration, visit nationaltrainday.com.
