Thanks for Train Day support

To the Editor:

Thank you to everyone that visited The Wilson Brewer Park – Museums & Visitor Center Saturday. This was our second year celebrating National Train Day. Our special guests, Glenn and Marie Cue, demonstrated their telegraph equipment, and Marie enjoyed spelling out the names of our little visitors in Morse Code. Glenn was an Illinois Central Station agent. I want to give a huge “Thank you” to Marie and Glenn, as well as Don Cook. Don shared some of his collection of train memorabilia, including many Illinois Central items.

Visitors also enjoyed seeing displays in the Depot basement. They saw artwork done by the Boone River Area Art Guild, as well as two display cases full of vintage cameras and equipment. The Mulberry Center Church was also open to the public.

We were very happy to see so many young families this year. Our attendance was overwhelming, many were return visitors, for others, it was their first time. We are planning mini events this year, and will have other buildings open at that time. Our first mini-event is June 9, starting at 1 p.m. The Boy Scouts will be doing a fundraiser, selling ice cream sundaes. Please visit us and hear the stories.
