Playwright to attend special?readers theater

Webster City Community Theatre will welcome playwright Phil Olson to its readers theatre on June 2 at 4:30 pm.

Olson wrote the series of “Don’t Hug Me” musical comedies that have been performed on the WCCT stage: “Don’t Hug Me,” “A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol,” “Don’t Hug Me County Fair,”e and “Don’t Hug Me I’m Pregnant.” Next fall he will begin work on “Don’t Hug Me We’re Married.”

Olson has recently penned a new play, “Mom’s Gift,” and has been conducting play readings.

“We couldn’t turn down his request to come to WCCT for a reading before he returns to his home state for some walleye fishing,”?said Loween Getter, WCCT?president.

“Mom’s Gift” is a seven-character play that takes place in the living room and front porch of the Swenson family home in a Minneapolis suburb. It is Dad’s birthday.

All interested are invited to attend the special reading. Bring a snack to share and your own beverage.
