No. 10 Lynx, Wildcats play to 1-1 draw because of weather
HUMBOLDT – The 10th-ranked (Class 2A) Webster City boys’ soccer team closed out the regular season with a tie against Humboldt last night.Locked at 1-1, the match was called to a halt with 10 minutes remaining because of lightning in the area.
Christian Lemus scored the Lynx (9-3-1) lone goal off a rebound shot from 20 yards out in the 20th minute.
Humboldt answered 10 minutes into the second half.
WCHS owned a 14-6 shots edge, including 7-3 on goal. The Lynx also took five corner kicks to the Wildcats’ zero.
The Lynx will now wait until next week to see who they’ll face in a Class 2A substate semifinal next Wednesday at Lynx Field. WCHS will play the winner of the quarterfinal match between Humboldt and No. 15 Waverly-Shell Rock, set for Monday in Waverly.
