Farmers market opens Saturday
Fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh baked goods and homemade craft items will once again be be available beginning Saturday as the Webster City farmers market opens for the season.
The market is held in the City Hall Plaza each Saturday through Oct. 26 from 8 to 11 a.m.
According to Stacy Grimshaw who organizes the market for the city of Webster City, said the market is approved to accept WIC, Senior SMNP and CVV vouchers.
A number of local growers bring a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables to sell throughout the summer and fall. The selection changes through out the season as more produce becomes ready for harvesting.
Many bakers and cooks share their homemade products including bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies, candies and other items. Crafters also have been known to sell their wares at the farmers market – from handcrafted cards and paper products to jewelry.
The farmers market has been open for a couple of weeks for vendors selling herbs and plants. Saturday marks the first full farmers market of 2013.
Grimshaw said if other vendors are interested in selling at the farmers market they should contact her at 832-9141. She can provide interested vendors with registration materials and an information packet.
