Trojans pull out slugfest over Tripoli, 14-8
BLAIRSBURG – Even after giving up seven runs in the third inning here yesterday evening, the Northeast Hamilton baseball team didn’t panic.
Instead, the Trojans went right back to work.
Tripoli plated those seven runs to turn a 6-1 deficit into an 8-6 lead, but NEH responded with four runs in its half of the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to win going away, 14-8, in Iowa Star Conference play.
The Trojans (4-4, 4-3 ISC) shelled Panther pitchers Tyler Seehase and Carter Zehr for 17 hits, four of which went for extra bases.
Logan Seiser brought the big lumber and put the momentum back in the NEH dugout with a three-run home run to left field in the fourth inning. He finished 3-for-4, which also included a double, and he drove in five runs.
Trevor Klaver also smacked three hits. Stephen Chamness, Gabe Rapp, Austin Smith, Nick Jeffers and Tyler Smith all rattled off two hits. Kyle Pruismann added a single.
Chamness laced a pair of doubles and drove in a run. Rapp and Jeffers both collected two RBIs; Austin Smith, Tyler Smith and Pruismann all plated one run.
Jeffers took the mound in relief of Seiser in the fourth inning and picked up with win. Rapp went the rest of the way.
