SAYDEL GOES ON OFFENSIVE, BEATS HAWKS: Saydel bashed three home runs and ripped off 15 total hits in a 14-6 Heart of Iowa Conference baseball win over South Hamilton last night in Des Moines.

“Any night you score six runs you assume you’re going to have a chance to win, but they hit the ball hard,” South Hamilton head coach Bret Bell said. “They’re a very good team.”

The Eagles (9-5, 7-1 HOIC) scored 12 of its runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

South Hamilton (4-9, 1-8 HOIC) received two of hits eight hits from Lucas Olson. He had a double, triple and three RBIs.

Devin Howard, Lane Heinlein, Hunter Griffin, John Hegland, Trevor Ullestad and Josh Doering all singled. Griffin and Hegland drove in runs.

The Hawks will be back at home today to take on Gilbert at 7:30 p.m.

TROJANS FALL TO NO. 4 DONS: No. 4-ranked (Class 1A) Don Bosco piled up seven runs in its first at bat and strolled to a 15-5, 5-inning Iowa Star Conference baseball victory over Northeast Hamilton yesterday evening in Blairsburg.

NEH (4-6, 4-5 ISC) scored four times in the third inning and once in the fifth. The Trojans accumulated eight hits, including a double from Austin Smith, who collected three RBIs.

Stephen Chamness and Gabe Rapp both rattled off three singles; Logan Seiser had one.

Don Bosco (13-2, 8-0 ISC) continued to lead the conference.

TOP-RANKED DONS BLANK TROJETS: Don Bosco senior pitcher Brittany Hickson tossed a perfect game – 12 up and 12 down – to lead her team to a 12-0 win over Northeast Hamilton in 4 innings last night in Williams.

The top-ranked (Class 1A) Dons (16-6, 8-1 ISC) put the contest out of reach with seven runs in the second inning. They tacked on three in the fourth after opening the game with two in the first.

Molly Greenfield allowed nine hits in the circle for the Trojets (6-11, 4-3 ISC).
