JANESVILLE SCORES 3 IN FINAL AT BAT TO NIP TROJETS: A wild Iowa Star Conference softball game that featured 25 runs and 23 hits went down to the final inning last night in Janesville.

The host Wildcats rallied with three runs in their final at bat to sneak by Northeast Hamilton, 13-12.

Janesville (11-7, 6-6 ISC) connected for three of its 10 hits off Trojet hurler Molly Greenfield in the bottom of the seventh.

NEH (9-16, 6-6 ISC) roped 13 hits off Wildcat pitcher Victoria Leyh; six players had multiple hits.

Greenfield led the way with a double, two singles and an RBI. Jenn Willems lashed a single and double; Jennifer Jeffers, Lillian Chamness and Leah Meyer all had two hits.

Chamness and Jeffers both drove in three runs.

WILDCATS RIDE BIG INNING PAST TROJANS: Janesville scored five runs in the third inning and then held on for a 6-3 victory over Northeast Hamilton last night in Janesville.

The Trojans (6-11, 5-9 ISC) scored single runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings, but were never able to mount a significant charge. Still, it was a better result than the first meeting – a 23-1 Wildcats’ win last month in Blairsburg.

Noah Ronnfeldt belted an RBI double in the loss. Logan Seiser had a single and RBI; Austin Smith and Truman Chamness added base hits, and Kyle Pruismann collected an RBI.

Gabe Rapp went the distance on the mound in the losing effort. He scattered five hits.

Tim Swanson earned the win for Janesville (13-6, 10-3 ISC).

HAWKS TRUMPED BY NORSE: South Hamilton left a slew of runners stranded, including at second and third on three occasions, during its 5-1 Heart of Iowa Conference softball loss to Roland-Story last night in Story City.

The Hawks (9-19, 5-11 HOIC) finally broke through in the seventh inning on an RBI bloop base hit by Kayla Lucas. She had two of the team’s seven hits.

MacKenzie Busch added a pair of base hits. Kayla Carlson, Tiffany Jacobson and Ella Jans all had one.

Adi Wintermote took the loss in the circle. Roland-Story?(11-11, 7-7 HOIC) finished with eight hits.

South Hamilton will be at Collins-Maxwell-Baxter on Wednesday.
