A parade tradition

Some came to grab a spot early, some came just for the candy, but everyone who attended the annual Hamilton County Fair Parade came for a good time.

The parade, which went north up Prospect Street and turned east onto Second Street, featured many familiar participants. Hundreds of community members came out to watch parade entries from local groups, clubs, businesses and other organizations during a cool summer evening. Fair queens, fire engines and 4-H members, clowns, classic cars and candy throwers and more were all seen during the parade.

The parade kicks off much of the Hamilton County Fair’s events for this week. Today’s events include the Hamilton County Fair Queen coronation, beginning at 7 p.m., the first flower show, with judging beginning at 1 p.m., and commercial exhibits opening at 10 a.m.
