Business contributes funding for workshop

Webster City Police Chief Brian Hughes has enrolled for the Crucial Conversation workshop that will be held Sept. 4 and 18 in Webster City.

Hughes learned recently from Kathy Getting, Power Up YOUth coalition director, that Seneca Foundry has donated funds to allow him and Heather Kierzek, Webster City School Juvenile Court Liaison officer, to attend the two-day workshop at no cost.

“After talking with someone who had benefited from learning these concepts, I was surprised to hear how advantageous this training turned out to be. I am very thankful for this opportunity, “Hughes said.

The training is based on the behavior of exceptional people who can effectively hold conversations when stakes are high, opinions vary and emotions run high.

Registration forms can be found on the Power Up YOUth/UDMO and Hamilton County ISU Extension service websites. Scholarships are available for parents of Hamilton County K-12 students.

The workshop will be held at the Hamilton County Extension office in Webster City.
