Alumni Club event is a success
To the Editor:
The Iowa State University Alumni Association Club of Hamilton County would like to express a huge “thank you” to local and area businesses and individuals who donated merchandise for the silent auction at our recent meeting. With your help and the help of generous bidders in attendance, we were able to raise over $3,000 to be used for scholarships for Hamilton County youth attending Iowa State. This kind of community support sends our students off to school with the knowledge that you are cheering them on.
Thank you to United Cooperative, Woolstock John Deere, Titan Machinery, New Cooperative, Edward Jones, Stephens Auditorium, ISU Coaches, First State Bank, Farm Credit Services, Michael McBride, Webster City FFA, Gilbert Jewelry, Hy-Vee, Fareway, Grid Iron, Leon’s, 2nd Street Emporium, Subway, Godfathers, DQ, Gerber’s, AmericInn, Super 8, Motor Inn, Lamperts, Webster City True Value, Pizza Hut, Webster City Custom Meats, Phairytales, R Company, Lunch Box, Every Blooming Thing, Critter Nation, Chuong Garden, Lomitas, Peoples Credit Union, Larson Enterprises, Gypsy Emporium, Randall Lumber Co., Linda Wild, Jerry Chizek, and Yvonne McCormick.
Our meeting was held Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Barn Shelter at Briggs Woods. We served a picnic supper, discussed club business, and enjoyed speaker Dr. Tom Hill, vice president for student affairs at Iowa State University. An outstanding speaker, Dr. Hill updated us on the university’s efforts to support students in all areas of student life including admissions, foodservice, student health, residence halls, activities, and much more. Thank you to the 49 members and friends in attendance. Your generosity was outstanding in supporting our scholarship efforts.
