Lynx hang tight at No. 10 in AP 3A poll

WEBSTER CITY – Following its most impressive victory of the season – a 34-0 rout of Iowa Falls-Alden on Friday – the Webster City football team remained ranked 10th in the latest Class 3A Associated Press poll that was released yesterday afternoon.

The Lynx earned 25 voting points, trailing No. 9 Williamsburg (27) by just two points.

Clear Lake and Humboldt – two of Webster City’s District 3 rivals – jumped to Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. The Lions moved up one spot, while the Wildcats bumped up two positions.

Clear Lake and Humboldt will meet this Friday night at Lions Field in Clear Lake.

Unranked a week ago, Carroll vaulted up to No. 7 after upsetting previously second-ranked Harlan. The Cyclones fell to No. 8.

The No. 1-ranked teams in each of the six classes remained unchanged this week. At the top are West Des Moines Dowling (4A), Sioux City Heelan (3A), Carroll Kuemper (2A), Iowa City Regina (1A), West Lyon (A) and Don Bosco (8-man).

Webster City (4-0, 2-0) will attempt to stay unbeaten on Friday when it travels to Algona (1-3, 0-2). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
