Moving forward

This summer featured many events in Webster City, and more are coming up this fall.

Webster City Chamber Director Deb Brown spoke at the Tuesday evening meeting of the Hamilton County League of Women Voters. She discussed many upcoming events in town, including Ladies Night Out, Wacky Wednesday and more.

The League also announced that the tentative date for the local LWV candidate forum will be held on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Pat Powers said the time still has yet to be confirmed.

Ladies Night Out is scheduled for Oct. 17 in Webster City. This is the second year the event has been held in town. Brown said the event the event encourages shopping and eating in downtown with sales across many stores. Shoppers will also have a chance to win Chamber Bucks prizes.

Wacky Wednesday is again scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Chamber retail members will host sales downtown.

Winter Wonderland is scheduled for Dec. 13 and 14. Brown said the event is still in the planning stages, but will plan to take participating men on a bus to places around town to try craft beers. Participating children might have the chance to participate in activities at Kendall Young Library or Fuller Hall.

Brown also spoke about the Chamber trip to Ireland, which currently has 11 community members planning to attend. The participants will stay in Ireland for about a week beginning on March 12, 2014.
