Two Stratford men injured in fire; one man is in custody
STRATFORD – Two men were injured Tuesday afternoon and one is in the Hamilton County Jail following an incident that occurred in Stratford.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call around 4:50 p.m., that David Alan Lundberg, 43, of Stratford, was attempting to leave a residence and had been drinking.
Officers were dispatched to the scene. While they were enroute, the caller said that the man had poured gasoline all around himself and the garage. A family member was attempting to stop the subject from lighting the gasoline, but it did ignite. Lundberg and the family member Dakota Buse, 20, of Stratford, were injured. Buse was transported to Van Diest Medical Center and then airlifted to the Iowa Burn Unit in Iowa City. No information was available as to his condition.
Lundberg was treated for burns at Van Diest Medical Center and released from the hospital. He was charged with attempted murder, willful injury, domestic abuse assault and reckless use of fire. He is now in custody at the Hamilton County Jail.
