Lynx girls, boys out of contention at Fort Dodge Invite

FORT DODGE – The Webster City girls’ and boys’ cross country teams finished in the back half of their respective races at yesterday’s Fort Dodge Invitational at Lakeside Golf Course.

Facing a field of mostly Class 4A schools, the Lynx girls claimed the 12th-place spot out of 14 in attendance. They compiled 366 points.

Second-ranked Ames won the girls’ team crown with 68, seven in front of No. 3 Urbandale (75).

The sophomore clan again led the Lynx and this time it was Courtney Biere’s turn, as she finished in 17:26 to place 61st. Allie Flaws (17:39) claimed 65th and twin sister Ashley (18:09) was 74th. Cassidy Bultena (18:18) took 80th, Gina Moline (18:32) 86th.

The WCHS boys’ squad was at the tail end of the 15-team field with 457. Top-ranked Johnston edged third-ranked Waukee by eight points, 47-55, at the top of the standings.

Scoring runners for the Lynx included Brandon Arkland (18:16) in 72nd, Jacob Perin (19:04) in 94th, Seth Crouthamel (19:04) in 95th, Connor Foster (19:05) in 96th and Adam McMurray (19:22) in 100th.
