National speaker to lead discussion in WC
Becky McCray, from Hopeton, Okla. will lead a guided brainstorming session for businesses in Webster City.
The event, sponsored by the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce, is free for chamber members to attend. Non-members can attend for $5. Whoop-ti-doo’s and La-ti-daa’s at 626 2nd Street, will host the meeting on Nov. 4 from 9 to 11 a.m. There will be coffee and treats available for purchase.
McCray contends that small businesses and small towns have a future. She is a small town business owner; she and her husband Joe co-own a retail liquor store and a cattle ranch. She writes and speaks about small town business. She and Chicago entrepreneur Barry Moltz, are the authors of the award-winning book “Small Town Rules.”
McCray has been featured in The New York Times, BusinessWeek, and Entrepreneur Magazine. Her blog, Small Biz Survival, ranks in the top 20 small business blogs worldwide. She makes her home base in Hopeton, Okla., a community of 30 people.
The brainstorming session will highlight these topics:
marketing a small business successfully
ways to connect a business to local culture
smell more, sell more and other small town ideas.
