Seiser a finalist for Wendy’s High School Heisman Award
WEBSTER CITY – Northeast Hamilton senior Logan Seiser is one of 20 statewide finalists for the prestigious Wendy’s High School Heisman Award, it was announced on Tuesday.
The program, which is in its 20th year, recognizes high school seniors for their achievement in academics, athletics and leadership.
Iowa’s girls’ and boys’ winners will be announced on Monday.
Seiser is competing for the award against the other boys’ finalists – Tyus Admins, Iowa City West; Tristan Beyer, Cedar Rapids Prairie; Joshua Evans, Linn-Mar (Marion); Rhett Nowotny, HLV (Victor); Elliott Henderson, West Liberty; Colby Carmichael, Des Moines East; Tanner Hilbrands, Remsen-Union; Philip Jacobson, Sioux City Heelan; and Eli Dunne, Grinnell.
The girls’ finalists include Jordan Holmes, Cedar Rapids Kennedy; Alexis Astor, Fort Dodge; Margaret Long, Des Moines East; Caitlyn Riese, Colo-NESCO; Kaylee Grote, Tri-Center (Neola); Chandler Capitani, Northwood-Kensett; Alexis Korte, Central Springs; Jasmine Demers, Storm Lake St. Mary; Drew Piersma, Sioux City North; and Lexi Flynn, Davenport Assumption.
Seiser has been a standout in numerous sports for Northeast Hamilton, including this fall as the starting quarterback for a Trojans’ football team that begins the Class 8-man state playoffs tonight against Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn.
