Saydel lives at FT line in win over SH girls

DES MOINES – The South Hamilton girls’ basketball team committed 30 fouls and was outscored 20-4 at the free-throw line in a 52-32 loss to Saydel here Friday night.

The Eagles (2-2, 2-1 HOIC) went to the charity stripe 43 times compared to 12 for the Hawks (0-3, 0-3 HOIC). Four South Hamilton players fouled out.

“The difference in the ball game was the free throws,” South Hamilton head coach Kathi Fisher said.

Saydel led 38-16 after three quarters. The Eagles received double-figure scoring from Cassie Chubb (12 points), Gabbre Richards (11) and Jordan Johnson (10).

Kali Lucas pumped in eight points for the Hawks. Kayla Lucas and Diana Garcia both scored five; Kaitlin Fisher turned in four points, 10 rebounds and two steals.

South Hamilton will host PCM on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
