Hislop scores 21, Hawks rattle in seven 3s in 71-50 win over Rams

JEWELL A 9-0 spurt over the opening three minutes of the second quarter gave the South Hamilton boys’ basketball team a double-digit lead and the Hawks went on to cruise by Heart of Iowa Conference rival Greene County, 71-50, last night on Coach Jim Marsh Court.

The Hawks (4-1, 4-1 HOIC) led 15-11 after one quarter and then extended to 24-11 before the Rams (1-4, 1-4 HOIC) found the bottom of the basket again.

South Hamilton led by 11 at the half and 17 after three quarters.

The 3-point shot was again a weapon for the Hawks; they knocked down seven, including three by Trevor Ullestad and two by Matt Hislop. Ross Enderson and Collin Hill also got in on the fun with one triple.

Hislop scored a game-high 21 points. Ullestad and Zach Zoske both poured in 11. Andrew Wintermote finished with nine and Hill had eight.

Trey Tucker had 11 points for Greene County before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
