Ellsworth city council adds new member

A new city councilman came on board for the Ellsworth city council when they met for their first meeting of the new year last week. Marv Norem was appointed to fill the vacancy on the council created with Greg Campbell became mayor. Norem’s appointment is for the last two years of a four-year term.

Mayor Campbell also appointed councilman Steve Holt as mayor pro-tem and Norem to be the representative to Hamilton County S.E.E.D., along with several other appointments to local boards and committees.

Visitors to the meeting, Lauren Olson and Janet Adix, were present at the meeting to request an increase from $2,000 to $2,750 in the yearly allotment from the city for Homewood Cemetery. The only funding available for the cemetery is from the city, Lincoln township, and the sale of plots. Additional funding has also been requested from other townships, but none has been received.

The council will consider the request when during budget preparation.
