Jerry Weber, 81, Wichita, Kansas
Gerald C. “Jerry” Weber Sr., 81, passed away January 29, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. A devoted Catholic, husband, father and friend, Jerry was born August 15, 1932, in Pierce, Nebraska to Charles and Dorthea (Schreiner) Weber, and was raised by his grandmother Myrtle Weber. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, returning home to marry Lois Ann Abler on August 6, 1956.
Jerry was a meat market manager for Safeway and Fareway Food Stores in Nebraska and Iowa, owned and operated his own custom meat processing business, a restaurant, and managed a number of other food service operations. He was a member of the American Legion and was a longtime and active Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Preceded in death by his brother Les Weber and sister Audrey Bernhardt. He is survived by his wonderful wife of 57 years, Lois Ann, and their eleven children; daughters Cheryl Ann (Eldean Olson) of Eagle Grove, IA, , Michelle (Kevin Brady) of Sioux City, IA, Canice (John Treangen) of Philadelphia, PA, and Angela of Seattle, WA; sons Gerald “Chuck” Jr. (Cindy) of Wichita, KS, Vincent (Charlene) of S. Sioux City, NE, Patrick (Aimee) of St. Paul, MN, Jason (Jennifer) of Ogden, IA, John (Deborah) of Lexington, KY, Randy (Jessica) of Greeley, CO and James (Jennifer) of Sioux City, IA. Jerry loved his 27 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by twin sisters Margaret (Wille) and Mildred (Gardels) of Omaha and Ruth (French) of Norfolk, Nebraska.
A Rosary Vigil will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 4910 N. Woodlawn, in Wichita, KS on Friday, January 31 at 7 p.m., with a Memorial Mass at Church of the Resurrection on Saturday, February 1 at 10:30 a.m. Internment at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Pierce, NE at a later date. Memorials are suggested at Resurrection Catholic School, Wichita, KS and Gerard House, Wichita, KS.
