Rader, Peters and Roys champions; Hawks take runner-up honors
POCAHONTAS – South Hamilton crowned three champions and claimed four silver medals here on Saturday en route to its best tournament finish of the season at the Pocahontas Area Invite.
All 10 Hawks in uniform placed in the top five in their respective weight classes; the team piled up 203 points to finish in the runner-up slot behind tournament champion and host Pocahontas Area (243).
Seven teams in all participated.
Third-ranked (Class 1A) JD Rader (132 pounds), Luke Peters (138) and Austin Roys (145) all had perfect days to claim gold for South Hamilton. Brian Greenfield (126), Jordan Toillion (152), Max Reiter (160) and Josh Lutter (285) were second, while Corey Clabaugh (113) took bronze.
Rader, still unbeaten on the season at 34-0, rolled up three technical falls and outscored his opponents 50-2. Peters decked two opponents and won two other matches by decision. Roys collected a fall, technical fall and win by medical forfeit.
South Hamilton will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday with a quadrangular in Britt with West Hancock, Southeast Webster-Grand and Manson-Northwest Webster.
