Stratford board tackles brief agenda

STRATFORD – School board members in Stratford had a routine agenda in front of them when they met in regular session for February.

Superintendent Sarah Binder reviewed the 2014-15 budget with the board. The budget hearing is set for the next board meeting on March 12. Also at that meeting, there will be a hearing on the proposed calendar for the 2014-15 school year.

In a related matter, the board unanimously approved 1080 hours rather than 180 days for the 2014-15 school year.

Binder told the board that Iowa Assessments have been completed, and results will be shared at parent-teacher conferences. She also summarized and shared with the board results of DIBELS Next, DIBELS Math, and MAP Testing.

Other business included:

A report from Binder that the school has received Paramount School Status for the third time.

Approval of the resignation of Erika Johnson, music teacher, effective at the end of this school year.

Teacher report by Deb Bergman, 3-4 teacher.

A report that the Hamilton County Foundation grant and the Teacher Leadership and Compensation grant were submitted.

Approval of a bid from Casey’s Custom Colors for painting restrooms, a hallway, and the cafeteria.
