WC Chamber looks to reboot ag committee
On April 8, the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce invites all businesses and individuals involved in agriculture to join them at Hy-Vee at 8 a.m. The Chamber has had an Ag Committee in the past and would like to have it again. This meeting will last about an hour and it will be a chance to share input on how an Ag Committee can be started, become effective and help the residents. This meeting is open, and not limited to just Chamber members.
Chamber officials said Hamilton County has many businesses that are tied directly to agriculture, and we are a rural community as well. Farming has changed in the past 30 years, yet 97 percent of the farms are still family farms. The Chamber feels they have an opportunity to help educate both urban and rural business members about agriculture. Having an active Ag Committee is the best way to begin that process, according to Chamber officials. Ideas are encouraged and the Chamber’s goal is to begin the process of creating a viable Agriculture Committee.
