Garrigan, Gaels top Lynx girls in NCC meet
WEBSTER CITY – The Webster City girls’ golf team opened its spring season with a third-place finish in a North Central Conference triangular it hosted at the Webster City Links yesterday afternoon.
WCHS received two solid scores from Megan Gilbert and Brittany Carlson, but were unable to keep up with the more balanced Golden Bears and Gaels.
Garrigan won the meet with a 210, five shots ahead of St. Edmond (215). WCHS turned in a 237.
Garrigan’s Alexa Capesius had no trouble with the par-35 layout, as her 4-over par 39 easily won her the medalist accolade. She finished five strokes ahead of runner-up Emma Halligan (44) of St. Edmond.
Gilbert paced the Lynx with a 54 and Carlson carded a 68. Taylor Elliott added a 61 and Shannon Swon fired a 68 to complete the scoring.
