Lee scores 2 goals, not enough for Lynx in loss to Mason City
MASON CITY – Mason City charged out to a big lead in the first half, extended it early in the second half and glided to an easy victory over Webster City in a girls’ soccer match here last night.
The Mohawks (1-0) put four goals on the board over the first 40 minutes to essentially put the bout out of reach en route to a 6-2 win.
“We lost six veteran seniors last year and we had a lot of holes to fill, so we’re working out some spots,” WCHS rookie head coach Paul Baedke said. “We changed things around a little bit to start the second half and I think we played a little bit better.”
Jesse Lee and Molly Gilbert worked together to score a pair of WCHS goals over the final 23 minutes. Gilbert assisted on both and Lee found the back of the net on a pair of nice boots.
Molly Jaycox came up with 17 saves in goal for the Lynx (0-1).
