Hughes announces resignation
Webster City Police Chief Brian Hughes has announced that he tendered his resignation on Tuesday. He will continue to serve as police chief for 30 days.
Hughes also announced he has accepted the position of police chief for the North Strabane Township Police Department, located in southern Pittsburgh, Penn. Hughes grew up on the eastern side of Pittsburgh. He said that in addition to being able to go back home and see his family and friends, the position will bring a lot of opportunity in a growing township.
The announcement was bittersweet for Hughes. He said that anywhere he works, he hopes to leave that place in better shape than when he came there, and thinks he accomplished that goal while in Webster City. But, he said it’s up for the community to decide.
“It’s really hard to walk away from a job that you’ve enjoyed. The people in this city, community members, the elected officials I’ve had contact with, everyone was very supportive,” Hughes said. “I walk away with no complaints.”
