Lynx finish second behind Humboldt at Spencer

SPENCER – The gusty conditions got the better of the Webster City boys’ golf team yesterday at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course.

The Lynx still shot a respectable 329 to place second behind Humboldt (326) at the Spencer Invite and they did it primarily because of their balance.

“We struggled with the wind,” WCHS head coach Dave Brighton said. “During the practice round with ideal conditions we looked much better.”

Alec Fuhs led WCHS with an 80 – good enough for eighth on the individual leaderboard. Avery Fuhs, Logan Yates and Sean Vogelbacher all shot rounds of 83.

Humboldt’s Christian Birdsell carded a 74 to nip Emmetsburg’s Mike Meyers (75) by one shot for the medalist honor.
