LYNX BOYS TENNIS BLANKED BY LIONS: Clear Lake shutout Webster City, 9-0, for the second time in the last 10 days yesterday at the WCHS courts in Webster City.
The Lynx made a push in just two of the singles and doubles matches; Dakon Bergquist challenged Jacob Peterson before falling 10-7 in the No. 4 singles match, and the Lynx No. 2 doubles team of Andrew Straw and Blake Nelson took five games off JJ Theobald and Jacob Peterson.
“As a coach, you always want to see improvement … I see improvement from last week when we played Clear Lake,” WCHS head coach Matt Manson said.
The Lynx will be on the road in Iowa Falls on Thursday to take on Iowa Falls-Alden at 4:30 p.m.
HAWK GIRLS FOURTH AT GOLF MEET: The South Hamilton girls’ golf team shot a 241 to finish fourth in a field of five teams yesterday at the Ames Golf and Country Club.
Nevada (190) sat atop the leaderboard, followed by Ballard (210) and Roland-Story (210). Gilbert (252) brought up the rear.
Nevada teammates Christine and Claire Ausman shot rounds of 44 and 46, respectively, to finish first and second.
Sidney Alsager led South Hamilton with a 53. Carly Swenson (58), Tiffany Jacobson (60) and Kaitlin Fisher (70) also factored into the scoring.
South Hamilton will head to Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center today to take part in the West Marshall Invite.
