GOLF: SH girls drop duals to Trojans, Norse

JEWELL – A season’s best round from Sidney Alsager earned her the runner-up medalist accolade, but it wasn’t enough to get the South Hamilton girls’ golf team in position to win the dual meet Friday afternoon at the Jewell Golf and Country Club.

West Marshall had two players shoot in the 40s and the Trojans knocked off the Hawks by 15 strokes, 209-224.

Still, it was an improvement over Thursday’s meet at River Bend Golf Course in Story City – a 215-245 loss to Roland-Story.

“It was a 180-degree turn around from (Thursday) at Story City,” South Hamilton head coach Kathi Fisher said. “It was good to see them rebound.”

Alsager shot a 48 on her home course against West Marshall. She trailed only Claire Underwood, who led the Trojans and the field with a 47. West Marshall’s Kenadey Porter added a 49.

Carly Swenson (54), Tiffany Jacobson (60) and Kaitlin Fisher (62) also contributed to the Hawks’ team total.

Alsager’s 57 led South Hamilton on Thursday.
