WCHS girls make Toreadors work for win
WEBSTER CITY – The final score didn’t reflect how Webster City girls’ tennis coach Heather Kierzek felt about her team’s performance yesterday at the WCHS courts.
The Lynx suffered a 9-0 loss to Boone, but Kierzek says her players didn’t back down from the challenge against the formidable Toreadors.
“Boone is always tough … I was really happy with how the girls played and they have improved a lot,” Kierzek said. “They’re getting more comfortable and it’s finally starting to come together for them.”
Lynne Chalfant gave Boone’s Emma Rose everything she wanted in the No. 1 singles match before Rose eventually prevailed 10-6. Rihanna Wood also played well in the No. 6 slot for the Lynx; she fell to Bianca Fuentes 10-5.
