Performance series returns to Blairsburg
A one-woman show about a classic author will be coming to Blairsburg this weekend.
Jane Cox, Iowa State University theater professor, will return to Hamilton County as part of The Jane Cox series. The series consists of 12 shows performed by Cox alone and is sponsored by the Randall Area Fine Arts Council and The New Academy of Fine Arts.
This weekend, Cox will perform the latest installment in the series in a show about Louisa May Alcott who is the author of the classic book “Little Women.” The show will be hosted at the Blairsburg Opera House beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Organizers invite those interested in attending to bring their families for this special event the day before Mother’s Day.
A free will offering will be held for the event.
Cox has been a member of the ISU faculty for over 20 years, according to the ISU theatre website. She has been involved with over 250 productions in acting, designing and directing roles. She has held her one-woman shows in over 20 states. Cox also teaches a wide variety of theatre classes at Iowa State University.
