Myron Sowle, 78, Barryton, Mich.

Myron “Bill” Sowle, age 78 of Barryton, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital. He was born September 1, 1935 in Lake, the son of Fredrick and Dorothy (Tupper) Sowle. Bill graduated from Barryton Agricultural High School in 1953. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after serving his country for four years. On November 10, 1956 Bill married Virginia Gardner in Rochester, MN and together they raised their family in Iowa.

While living in Iowa, Bill was a Hamilton County Park Officer and he owned and operated a heating and cooling company. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Bill loved his children and grandchildren and the time they spent together.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Sowle of Barryton; two sons, Douglas Sowle of Cresco, Iowa and Andrew Sowle of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three siblings, Arnold “Jack” (Doris) Sowle of Barryton, Kenneth “Frank” Sowle of Harrison and Joyce (Charles “Sandy”) Quick of Lake; many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wylda “Jo” Jones.

A memorial service will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Paul Schneider officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
