Trojans blast Meskwaki for first win
MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT – Northeast Hamilton unleashed nine hits and scored at will in its first baseball victory of the season here Friday evening.
The Trojans (1-2) circled the bases for eight runs in the first and second innings and handled the Meskwaki Settlement School, 12-1 in 5 innings, in Iowa Star Conference play.
“I was very pleased with how the guys performed,” NEH head coach Chace Pruismann said. “They all really came around and started playing as a team, and the communication was right where it needed to be.”
Logan Seiser led the offensive charge; the senior went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Gabe Rapp laced a single and triple, scored twice and drove in three runs. Tyler Smith finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and he touched home plate three times. Truman Chamness added a pair of singles and one RBI.
The Trojans stole six bases, led by Smith with three.
That was more than enough for Rapp, who pitched a complete-game five-hitter to pick up the win. The senior fanned seven batters while walking none.
NEH will be at home Wednesday to take on North Tama at 5 p.m.
