Where do I vote?

Primary elections will be held today. Though there are no contested races in Hamilton County on the Democratic ballot, races for the Republican nomination for governor, U.S. Senate and Hamilton County Treasurer will be decided. Polling locations for Hamilton County districts have been announced as follows:

– Cass, Freedom, Fremont and Independence township residents will vote at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1229 Kathy Lane, activity room east entrance.

– The cities of Blairsburg and Williams, Blairsburg, Liberty and Williams township residents will vote at the Blairsburg City Hall in Blairsburg.

– Cities of Stanhope and Stratford, Clear Lake, Hamilton, Marion and Webster township residents will vote at the Stanhope Community Center, located at 600 Main Street in Stanhope.

– City of Jewell, City of Randall and Ellsworth Township and Lyon Township residents will vote at South Hamilton High School at 315 Division Street in Jewell.

– City of Ellsworth, Lincoln, Rose, Grove and Scott township residents will vote at the Ellsworth Community Center, located at 1724 DeSota St. in Ellsworth.

– Webster City first precinct residents will vote at the Webster City Fire Station, 919 Superior St., southwest entrance in Webster City.

– Webster City second precinct residents will vote at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1005 Beach St., west entrance in Webster City.

– Webster City third precinct residents will vote at the First Baptist Church, 543 Division St., east entrance in Webster City.

On the ballot for Hamilton County for voters casting ballots in the Republican primary include five candidates seeking the nomination for U.S. Senate. The winner of that race is expected to face Democrat Bruce Braley for the seat currently held by Tom Harkin. The five candidates are Sam Clovis, Joni Ernst, Mark Jacobs, Scott Schaben and Matt Whitaker.

Terry Branstad and fellow Republican Tom Hoefling are both seeking the nomination for governor.

In Hamilton County, Republicans Joni Hilpipre and Mike Myers are facing off for the right to run for Hamilton County Treasurer.
