Tourney to aid family

The third annual Hamilton County Peace Officers Association benefit golf tournament will be held Sunday at Briggs Woods Golf Course with a shot gun start at 10 a.m.

The four-person best shot tournament raises funds to help a law enforcement family that has suffered a tragic event in the past year. Organizers said the proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to Amanda Buenting and her two children. She is the wife of the late Jamie Buenting, a Rockwell City Police officer who was killed in the line of duty in September 2013.

The cost for a four person team is $160 which includes the meal and a green fees. A limited number of carts are available for $12. To reserve a cart, contact the Brigg Woods Clubhouse, 832-9572.

Organizers said that people wishing to support the event but who don’t want to golf, can come out for the meal for $5. A raffle for prizes and an auction of donated items will also be held following the tournament.

To reserve a spot or to make a donation for the raffle, contact Rod Hicok at (319) 240-4164 or email rhicok@hamiltoncounty.org.
