Wintermote cracks HR in SH softball loss to Rams

JEWELL – Greene County put its bats to good use early and put South Hamilton away in a Heart of Iowa Conference softball contest Friday evening at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex.

The Rams (6-3, 5-1 HOIC) rattled off seven of their nine hits and scored all of their runs in the first and second innings en route to a 6-1 victory.

South Hamilton (2-6, 2-4 HOIC) managed just two hits off Rams’ hurler Marissa Promes. Both came off the bat of Ady Wintermote, who had a double and a solo home run to left field in the second inning.

“I thought we had good at bats all night,” South Hamilton head coach Laura Read said. “We had a couple of other opportunities that we weren’t able to capitalize one.”

The Hawks left the bases loaded in the fourth inning. In the fifth they put runners at second and third, but came up empty.

Wintermote suffered the loss in the circle.
