Trojans clipped by Panthers

BLAIRSBURG – A three-run third inning put Tripoli in the driver’s seat for good in an Iowa Star Conference baseball game here Friday evening.

The Panthers added an insurance run in the fifth inning and beat Northeast Hamilton, 5-2.

The Trojans (2-3, 2-2 ISC) scored both of their runs in the second inning. Truman Chamness had an RBI base hit and Tyler Smith also drove in a run.

NEH finished with eight hits; Chamness and Kyler Rapp both went 2-for-3, while Gabe Rapp was 2-for-4.

Kyler Rapp, Austin Smith and Chamness all hit doubles.

Gabe Rapp took the pitching loss after going five innings.

Kyle Leksell took over in the sixth and struck out four without yielding a hit.
