Asbury UMC to welcome new pastor

Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City will be welcoming a new pastor, beginning July 1.

Pastor Jeffrey Flagg and his wife, Lynne, are coming to the church from the United Methodist Churches in Pleasantville and Melcher-Dallas where he pastored two United Methodist congregations for the past 12 years.

Jeff has a broad and interesting background, including an Associate’s Degree in Forestry and Land Surveying, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the State University of New York and a Master’s of Divinity from St. Paul’s Theological Seminary in Kansas City. He and Lynne have lived and worked in New York, Arkansas, and Texas prior to his call into the ministry.

Pastor Jeff has worked as a hospice chaplain for the past six years and led all of the chaplains for HCI Care Services. He also taught Patient Centered Care for Hospice. He has served on a Bio-Ethics committee in Des Moines for the past five years.

Jeff’s wife, Lynne is a nurse, and she is currently working at an Assisted Living facility in Des Moines.

Asbury’s current pastors have received new appointments beginning July 1. Terra Amundson has been appointed to become the District Superintendent for the UM churches in the Southwest Iowa. Jay has been appointed as pastor for the UM churches in Guthrie Center and Bowman Chapel.
