Teen to tour with music ambassadors
Harleigh McKee, 17, Webster City, will tour Europe with the Iowa Ambassadors of Music July 3 through 18.
The daughter of Kristin and Don McKee, she is part of a select group of 378 students, advisors and parents from across Iowa. The 2014 tour is a 20-day event that includes four days of rehearsal in Grinnell with a farewell concert on July 2 at 7 p.m. The group has a 16-day concert tour covering England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy and Liechtenstein. They will perform in each country except Liechtenstein.
Dr. Morgan Jones, professor emeritus from the University of Iowa conducts the Iowa Ambassadors of Music Band. Peter Westphalen of Cedar Rapids Washington High School conducts the choir. Forty Iowa music teachers and musicians will assist in the preparation of the ensembles.
McKee, who will be senior at Webster City High School in the fall, was nominated for the group by Andrew Wotherspoon, high school vocal music instructor.
