Welcome to Our Hometown

Inside today’s The Daily Freeman-Journal, readers will find the first edition of a new monthly publication, Our Hometown.

According to Terry Christensen, Daily Freeman-Journal general manager, for more than a decade, Our Hometown was an annual project, featuring the stories of Hamilton County residents.

“The Daily Freeman-Journal staff is excited to announce that Our Hometown will now be published each and every month,” said Christensen.

“Our annual Our Hometown publication has always been well-received by our readers. People want to read about good people doing great things. This lead to us expanding to a monthly edition,” he said.

In this inaugural issue, we bring you features on the new life breathed into the historic Webster City firehouse; a look at a woman who’s keeping history alive in Webster City and the story of a Hamilton County author who has just released her first novel – at age 16. Those are just a few of the great things you’ll find between the covers of Our Hometown.

“We invite our readers to share ideas for future stories, submit photos of your pets, take part in our monthly Landmarks contest or just send us your thoughts about this publication,” Christensen said. Send submissions or comments to ourhometown@freemanjournal.net.
