Making art in the park

Volunteers worked to teach local children about sculptures and helped them to create their own works of art at an event in Webster City.

Participating children spent Thursday afternoon learning about sculptures from local artists. Those children also had a chance to create their own sculptures made from carpet and upholstery fabric tubes donated by Gilbert Flooring and Paint and Joan’s Upholstery respectively.

Junior sculptors then decorated the tubes with graphic design vinyl which was donated by local artists. The sculptures now stand at West Twin Park in anticipation of the annual Art in Boone River Country Sculpture Contest which will be held Aug. 8 through Aug. 10.
