Trojans unable to keep up with ISC rival Red Raiders

BLAIRSBURG – Northeast Hamilton closed out its regular season with a 10-1 setback against Dunkerton last Friday afternoon.

The Red Raiders (8-13, 7-8 ISC) touched Trojans’ pitcher Gabe Rapp for nine hits, two of which went for extra bass. Four Dunkerton players drove in two runs.

Northeast Hamilton (7-13, 7-8 ISC) sprayed six hits, keyed by an RBI double off the bat of Truman Chamness in the fifth inning. He finished 2-for-4 at the top of the order.

Rapp, Logan Seiser, Kyle Pruismann and Austin Smith all added singles in the loss.

Dunkerton scratched out a run in the first inning to jump ahead for good. The Red Raiders added two runs in the third and then took command with five in the fourth frame.

Rapp struck out seven and walked two.

NEH will open up Class 1A District 5 play with a quarterfinal-round match-up against Gladbrook-Reinbeck (20-9) today at 5 p.m. in Grundy Center.
