Clarion museum to honor Hat Lady

CLARION – A special Tea and Recollections honoring Clarion’s First Lady of finery, Alvina Sellers is planned for July 31 at 3 p.m. at the Hearland Museum in Clarion.

Her daughter, Dr. Sandra Sellers Hanson will share of bit of the history of how her mother started collecting and anecdotes on her many programs and appearances, including the David Letterman Show.

The Museum features three rooms showcasing Seller’s extensive collection of hats and accessories. She travelled the country giving programs. Organizers encouraged mothers and grandmothers to bring your daughters and granddaughters so they can learn about Sellers and a little local history.

Refreshments will be served, a brief program and then a style show by the young ones in attendance. Wear your own favorite hat or borrow one of Alvina’s for the afternoon.

Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for students, may be purchased at Daisy’s on Main or the Museum during open hours, Wednesdays and Saturdays 1 to 4 p.m. Seating is limited.
